Description:This is the official 100 km Dodentocht ® App. On August 9-10, 2013, the 44th 100 km Dodentocht ® event takes place in Bornem, Belgium. More than 10,000 participants from more than 20 countries will try to finish the 100 km track in less than 24h. This App aims to be a handy tool and a source of information for both participants and supporters during the days of the event. Participants can use this App to enable Real-Time Tracking. A feature that offers more regular location updates than normally available with scans at checkpoints. Supporters can follow the progress of up to 5 participants, see their location on a map and receive messages when a participant reaches a checkpoint. In this first release we have kept the feature-list deliberately small so we can fully verify the used technology during the 2013 event. Future releases will contain more information & features. Important note for participants using the Real-Time Tracking feature: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. The Dodentocht ® App has been tested extensively to preserve the battery of your device as much as possible. Under following conditions, with Real-Time Tracking enabled, tests have indicated that your battery may last 24h: 1) Make sure your battery is fully charged when you start the Dodentocht ®. 2) Restart your device completely. 3) Turn off WiFi and Bluetooth, on the road you don't need them.4) Keep your app usage minimal. Extensive use of Twitter, Facebook, SMS, Internet and other apps, will drain your battery faster. 5) You might consider the purchase of a backup battery system for your device. Please note that even when you have followed the above instructions, we cannot always guarantee the minimal 24h usage, because this is also being influenced by the age of your device and the availability of 3G / Edge networks.
